Fill in the Blank Friday

I go to this blog, Spabettie. She's nice. She's probably about half my age. The internet is half my age.

I am getting the beginnings of weird turkey neck.

Anyway, she and some of her other super young and fabulous pals have this thing called "Fill in the Blank Friday" and I thought I'd do it because it's good to do things.

However, my phrase of the day is "I hate feeling feelings".

That doesn't really connect to FITBF, but whatevs, as the teens say.

So here we go:

1.  I LIKE: needlepoint, cats, making cookies, shopping, naps, my friends, reading, bread.

2.  A LIFE GOAL OF MINE IS: To learn to play the cello.

3.  THE LAST THING THAT YOU WOULD EXPECT ME TO LIKE (but I secretly do): This is a tough one because I pretty much tell the internet everything, so no surprises here, sorry. So I'll just say the show Castle. I freaking love the TV show Castle.

4.  SOME WISE WORDS I LOVE ARE: "You'll know what to do when the time comes". A nice way of saying "Stop worrying, already".

5.  MOST MORNINGS YOU WILL FIND ME: On the couch with my dog, having just spilled coffee and oatmeal all over myself. And not in a sexy way.

6.  RIGHT NOW I AM SUPER IN TO: being vegan, contemplating yoga.

7.  RIGHT NOW I AM SUPER OVER: Not having a vehicle. I'm getting old and schlepping groceries is boring.

BIG DAY FOR ME AND FOR THE UNIVERSE

Hey there.

Today is a big day for me and for the universe, like I mentioned in the title of this blog.

It's a big day for the universe because today marks the 200th blog entry that I have put forth to the world.

Two hundred groups of 1's and 0's. Many more than 200 highly rendered and expertly executed drawings. Two hundred glimpses into my soul. Thank you for reading and for commenting!

It's a big day for me because it's my 7 year First Date-a-versary with Brian. Hard to believe that it was 7 years ago tonight that I had my first date with my destiny. My farty, farty destiny.

Who would have thought that on that chilly November evening at C'est What in Toronto, I would have met the man I would eventually settle for. I wonder if he ever conceived his expectations and hopes for life would be so completely and harshly dashed.

Oh the sacrifices we make for love.

But that first night we had a very nice time. Asking all the usual questions. Thinking the usual things to ourselves:

Her: He seems nice. I wonder if he's got a panel van parked outside and I'm going to be chopped into bits and thrown into a gorge by the end of the night.

            Him: Boobies!

So a big thank you to you, dear readers, and to you, dear husband, for sticking with me for this long.

Nov 1 - World Vegan Day

Yes. It's World Vegan Day.

I know what you're thinking... you're thinking, "Come on, Elpoo. EVERY DAY is vegan day".

Well, let me tell you it's really hard to find vegan shoes and I bloody well deserve a parade because of this, ok?

So how does a vegan celebrate the day set aside to honour her people?

Well, she starts out with a healthy vegan breakfast.

Follow that with a lot of sitting on the couch with her dog while she surfs the internet for kitten pictures,

scientific proof that veganism will make her thin,

and internet medical symptom checkers.

I should probably order this right away.

Later on there might some jubilant vacuuming.

Because it's such a special day I might wash and prep eleventy billion vegetables. I will do this after I vacuum because I always forget how crumbly cauliflower is and there will be cauliflower droppings everywhere. It's like confetti, I tell myself.  It's not confetti. It sticks to the bottom of my feet. World Vegan Day has its sad moments.

I'll take a moment to think about how much I suffer because I am a vegan and I shed one low sodium tear.

So...

After a nourishing vegan lunch

this chickpea, kale and brown rice salad is best served with 3 rows of vegan crackers. Apparently.

I'll get together with other vegans in my area.

We'll talk about how great it is to be vegan and how stupid it is that major grocery stores don't carry agar-agar and teff flour.

Then it's homeward I go for my afternoon nap that I dedicate to St. Cornelius, Patron Saint of Farm Animals.

Then, before I make the most awesome World Vegan Day Dinner Ever,

acorn squash stuffed with quinoa, peppers and vegan cheese.

I'll stop and say a short vegan prayer before the vegan shrine. Every vegan home has a shrine where we can pay homage to our Vegan God.

The prayer is something like this:

Then I'll watch a bunch of tv and go to bed.

Happy World Vegan Day!!
